Common album, Sasquatch & Montreal
First of all party people while I’ve got your attention, here’s a few things I forgot to mention. (I’m working on a 16.) Common’s album! Cop it. Why, you ask? Because I’m on it, I say. I did the jigga-jiggas on “Chi City” and on “Go”, which is the new single and video. I guess the fact that it’s Common’s best album ever would also be a good reason to buy it. (Oh no you didn’t!)
Second thing: my Dipset song played on Hot97… twice! DJ Enuff played it and frankly I’m not even sure where he got it. But I’m lovin’ it like McDonald’s. I couldn’t believe it.
OK, back to the program. After the last update I went out to London and Stockholm for a weekend of shows. Unfortunately I don’t really have any pics from that trip but it was funky fresh, like always in London. I gotta send shout outs to Beni, Gil, Tony Vegas and Seb for hooking it up real lovely.
Then I played in New York at Mission, in a cramped little booth on a mixer with knobs. It was a dope party though! Right after the show I jetted straight to Newark airport and headed over to the city of George, Washington (seriously) to perform with Kanye at the Sasquatch festival. The setting was real picturesque; it was right next to a gorge (until then the only gorge I knew of was Springfield Gorge, which Bart once attempted to jump across on his skateboard… but I digress). Check out the pictures:
After that I visited Mr West in the studio, as he’s wrapping up the new album.
And finally, yesterday was my first show in years in Montreal, with my hebrew brethren Non Phixion. People outside of Montreal might not know this, but I barely ever play out here. I constantly perform out of town but when I’m home I just keep a low profile and stay in the studio. But last night was bananas! It was grimy hip hop at its rawest, in classic Montreal fashion. My high school homies came out, even my cousins came out, AR family D-Shade and Simahlak were in the building… Non Phixion killed it, obviously.
Shalom, y’all.
