A Peace Treaty scarves
Finding a nice scarf is surprisingly hard, especially for guys. You’re not gonna rock a kefia in this day and age. You probably want something more original than an oversize in-your-face Hermes or Fendi joint. So where do you go? Well, this is where A Peace Treaty comes in.
(Cue photo of Trizzy… bing!)
I’ve been rocking these scarves for a minute now. What’s unique with this brand is that it “creates employment for skilled artisans working in places of socio-political strife, effectively supporting their craft while elevating their products to the level of high design.” So they go and get special loins from Pakistan and Afghanistan and hand-make these really great scarves!
Luckily for you, APT is having a sale right now on their website! So head on over there and look at the pics of my brother modeling…
A Peace Treaty scarves are also available at Bendel’s, Barney’s (Japan), Isetan (Japan), Oak, Odin, Rugby Ralph Lauren…

Houses that are under 100 sq ft
This dude Jay Shafer has been building and living in houses smaller than 100 sq ft for over 10 years. From the looks of it it’s 1 part concern for the environment and 1 part eccentricity. Check the guided tour on his website, I also posted the video after the jump. I’m not convinced that the bed “comfortably” fits 2…
Dutch “Thriller” musical in the works
Do I really need to type here? The title and the pic say it all.
The NY Times blog reports that the Nederlander Organization “acquired the rights to produce a musical based on the Michael Jackson album Thriller and its groundbreaking video.” Jacko is said to be involved.
In related news, filmmaker John Landis is reportedly suing MJ for unpaid profits from the video.
Can’t stop listening to this Fleetwood Mac record
“Big Love”, first song on Tango In the Night… And what a video too!
Fleetwood Mac is another thing for which I’m thankful to my dad.
Parra x Vans
I have a couple of buddies in Amsterdam. One is Laidback Luke. He’s the master of the kick drum. Another is Parra, the master of… drawing pointy noses? Anyway Parra is the man, I posted about his headphones before and today I’m posting his upcoming collabo with Vans.
One time Mehdi and I played in Amsterdam. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and I saw a mouse. Never again!!

Great Kid Koala interview
Kid Koala from calumpickle on Vimeo.
As you may know, Kid Koala came up in Montreal, my hometown. I have Koala stories for days. Basically when I started cutting at age 13, Eric was one of the most prominent DJs in the city. I met him at my brother’s college radio show and I started going to his apartment in what we call the McGill ghetto (the neighborhood around McGill University, which I later attended) to practice and soak in some wisdom. Before Vestax started making mixers specifically for turntablists, they used to have this tiny mixer called the PMC-005: it looked like a small cash register and was decent for scratching. Koala used it so bought one too. The only problem was that the fader knobs were too tiny. So he showed me how he molded and baked his own. I’m not kidding! He used to buy clay and mold a fader knob, slide it onto the metal prong on the mixer to make the hole and bake it in the oven!
As you can see on the video and by the story I just told, this dude is one of the most creative, DIY, quirky and unique DJs out there. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen him but I hope we cross paths again soon!
Nominated for a Beatport Music Award
I just found out that my Boys Noize remix is one of 3 songs in the running for “Best Electro House Track” of 2008 over at the Beatport Music Awards. That’s right folks, I make Electro House. I like that better than Progressive House and Psy Trance. You can follow that link and vote for me, if ya feel like being a trooper!
While you’re at it, vote for Chromeo for Best Indie Dance / Nu Disco Artist!
My remix for Sébastien Tellier
Check out my latest production… My remix of “Kilometer” by Sébastien Tellier. Truth is, I’ve been trying to stop remixes and focus on my own production but when I got this offer I just couldn’t refuse. It’s my favorite track on the album and I wanted Guy-Man’s parts! I even recorded a live string section, which is a first for me. Hope you like it!
This will be out in late February on Record Makers. Busy P called it “remix of the year” on the Coolcats blog!
The remix is also featured on my upcoming mix CD Infinity +1 coming out in April… official announcement is just around the corner!
Really tiny (naked) step sequencer
The GorF is a “DIY” step sequencer coming out this year.
I can’t get enough of these youtube instructional videos. Who needs manuals anymore?
