In the lab with Steve Angello
I went to visit Steve Angello in the studio in LA today and got a sneak peak into his klezmer techno experiment. Also worked on some secret goodies. Keep your eyes and ears open! Miami here we come…

Week 2 of the Infinity +1 tour! After the overall awesomeness of the New York show on the first weekend, I knew it would be smooth sailing for a while. I guess New York has this sort of make-or-break-ness to it. So picking up where we last left off, I took the train to Boston for a show on St-Patrick’s day, last Tuesday. It’s pretty rare that you get to take trains in North America compared to Europe, and it’s such an easier way to travel when the distance isn’t too bad. At Penn Station I was already seeing a bunch of dudes dressed in green, ready to double-fist some brewskis. The potential for obnoxiousness was pretty high, I’d say it was level orange. Arriving in Boston, I went to sound check with Mano and Hollywood Holt who were also performing that night and we realized that the club looked like a big boudoir. Jiggy clubs: another setting where bitchassness is very likely. The more velvet you see, the more likely you are to run into dumbbells. We went to eat a big lobster dinner and came back for the show. I guess it’s a good thing that I hadn’t played Boston in years because in the end I think that brought out my real audience and we beat out the evil forces of jiggy clubs and wasted jocks and had a really fun time! Everything else was a false alarm.
Watch me walk the runway at the Givenchy show
I told this story in my Paris recap last week… Now here’s the video. We were at the Givenchy show in Paris, it was taking too long to start so I said something like “I should just walk the runway myself”. So Ibn turned on the camera and we had a literal representation of “don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk”… him & Muriel egging me on.
(The original unedited appears on the Ferrari Murakami blog, but I trimmed a bit of fat here. I don’t know why the image is stretched out like that. It’s not because of widescreen settings… Ah well who cares.)
Sébastien Tellier necklace?
Should I just go ahead and make a Tellier category in my blog? Seems like there’s been a lot of posts… but hey, who can resist this accessory? This giant bust is made out of mirror and plexi and was designed by Yaz and Emel of Yazbukey, “Ottoman princesses and descendants of Mehmet Ali Pasha King of Egypt” who now live in Paris, according to their bio.

Book: Mike Mills “Graphics/Films”
Mike Mills: Graphics Films is the first retrospective monograph covering fifteen years of Mills’ work in the fields of graphic design, film and art. The book includes album cover designs that have become part of our cultural landscape, such as work for The Beastie Boys, Beck, Sonic Youth, as well as his covers and videos for the French band Air. Also included are graphics, textiles, and t-shirts for Marc Jacobs, X-Girl, and Humans, as well as rarely seen documentation of his fine art work and worldwide exhibitions.
Can someone please explain this??
I don’t think this is ironic. Lindsey Lohan, what’s going on? I kind of love it.
Recommended listening: Playgroup partymix 2001
Playgroup is Trevor Jackson, my homie from London. I first met Trevor after he remixed Chromeo’s first single “You’re So Gangsta”. His “DJ Kicks” CD is one of my favorite DJ mixes, and I recently discovered this mix of his from 2001. It’s every classic old school party jam you can imagine quickly edited back-to-back. Name them all! I know I can’t…
To download it go to www.trevor-jackson.com > Extras > DJ Mixes.
Infinity +1 iTunes pre-release… out now!!
The official release date for Infinity +1 is March 31st but in the US there’s an exclusive iTunes pre-release as of yesterday so my mix CD is available now! We’re already #2 on the iTunes dance chart. Kaskade, I’m coming for that azz, NH.
