Whoooole lot of original samples on this site

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I gotta give props to KevinNottingham.com, their/his Diggin’ In Da Crates section is a SERIOUS load of original samples both by producer (Dilla, Kanye, Just Blaze) and by artist/album.

Complete samples from Joe Budden’s “Mood Music” 2 AND 3??? hehehe…. No but seriously there’s plenty of goldmines. It’s one thing to make a list of samples but you can download everything here.

These guys nailed the 1996 website

Check out the website for t-shirt brand Death Killers (aptly nicknamed Des Kiraz). Shirts are pretty cool but the best part is the site itself. Netscape button! Animated pegasi! (is that the plural of pegasus?)

There’s even a section of the site called “Or don’t buy one” where, instead of buying an overpriced t-shirt, you can send a donation to the Boys And Girls Club or the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression — which have absolutely no relation to Death Killers.

A Night At The (Synth) Museum

Friday, July 24th, 2009

In Calgary we stopped at the little-known Cantos synth museum and… well… just watch it. It’s insane.
Special thanks to our gracious host Brendan.

I wasn’t sure if I should post this but it’s kinda funny

Friday, July 24th, 2009

A friend of mine across the pond pointed this out:

Exhibit A: Cover art for British cross-genre electro-club-pop rapping singing dude Master Shortie.

Exhibit B: My press shot from 2007-2008.

I like how they updated his hat too. I’m not sayin… I’m just sayin.

No shots!

Around the World Pt. 23: 10,000LB Hamburger Tour

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

From the fab Fader blog.

I’m about halfway into the 10,000LB Hamburger Tour so I think it’s time for some stories. We started off in the South, which I think is a bit unusual. Most tours go through the South in the middle, it’s typically the hardest leg of a tour because the distances are so long. It’s tricky finding decent food on those long drives so the name turned into a self-fulfilled prophecy: We ended up really eating hamburgers all the time. I’m gonna get fat! Someone pass me a parsnip or something.
