Almost identical to my lists…. nicely done.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I’m glad to see Phoenix at the top of a lot of these list (including mine). Well played, sir.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
finissimo…!
December 29th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
Turn my swag on? Really Atrak?
December 29th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Kid Cudi’s album not on the list?
C’mon Atrak
8. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)??
oh really? I better go listen to that
Ace list though :]
December 29th, 2009 at 9:24 pm
Almost identical to my lists…. nicely done.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Nice! the recent Holy Ghost! ‘the remixes’ mixtape ain’t too shabby either. but i guess its stuff that we’ve already heard.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
How in the world did you miss boys noize??? If not one of the albums of the year, atleast 1 in the top 10. However spot on with Phoenix, good sir. Also, royksopp, bibio and dizzee rascal need a nod. Amazing list though!!!
December 29th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
soulja boy!?! you gotta be joking!
December 29th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
your name, is britney, like… who said you could talk?
December 29th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
I have to say I am really excited about the eclecticness of your choices, A-Trizzy! (Not that I was too surprised though-you have very good taste)
I think that it is incredible how many DJs have really started to include hard, edgy indie bands in their favorites lists. I always thought I was the only one that had a broad sense of the indie genre! If it’s not quite mainstream, if it is still largely waiting to be discovered, if you have to hunt it down, it’s indie. For me, everything from your music and mixes, to the YYYs, to old school altpop, to The XX, to bashment, to dubstep…it’s all interesting and off the beaten path.
Thanks for helping carve out another amazing path.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
best a-trak (videotaped) moment: almost tipping a table in charlotte.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
I’m not joking at all about Soulja Boy. “Turn My Swag On” is a GREAT song!
December 29th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
I can’t believe yours is the first blog to include a “best horse” category!! I completely agree with your choice though :p
December 29th, 2009 at 10:15 pm
no joke, one of my favorite moments of the year was when diplo dropped Swag On at hard 13.
December 29th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Amazing list, can’t really argue
December 29th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
pretty good list! I sampled a bunch of the stuff listed and I’m feelin’ your selections. Chromeo and Kid Cudi are spot on and so is “Turn My Swag On” by Soulja boy! That track kills any party, anytime!
December 29th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
Can’t disagree with you more on Julian Casablancas. Spin it again, eat something you like while you do it.
And it’s a cheesy track, but I think Dizzee Rascal “Holiday” has got to be up there; especially if your own remixes and collaborations get a nod :p Calvin Harris just did too slick a job to be passed over.
December 30th, 2009 at 3:53 am
Have to hear some of your top albums and tracks in the future
December 30th, 2009 at 3:54 am
My biggest disappointment for 2009 was Jay Z’s Blueprint 3…
D.O.A. had me so hyped, then when I heard the rest of the album upon release, I wasn’t feeling it. I dunno, maybe I am not into hip hop as much as I used to be.
I agree with Jeffer being up there, but no Starter? That track is def one of my bigguns’ for ‘09!
One of the best moments this year was seeing you live in Osaka! Thanks for taking the pic with me up on stage!
December 30th, 2009 at 4:21 am
gucci mane,rick ross,drake,soulja boy?wtf man?
do u remember obscure disorder?your hip hop picks were a dissapointment to me…
December 30th, 2009 at 6:35 am
Hi Kostas. Yes, I remember Obscure Disorder. I still stand by my picks. It’s 2009, my dude. And I was listening to the Hot Boyz back in the 90s when we were making those OD records. No irony here.
T-Atoms: agreed about Jay… BP3 was a poop album.
December 30th, 2009 at 8:27 am
I think Krazy Baldhead did a great album and birdy nam nam with Manual for Successful Rioting as well!!!!!!
December 30th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Nice, list, I also came up some cool categories like best guest verse, best viral promotion of an album, fun categories like that (I also picked Kanye on run this town, I think it was the Rav 4 comment that got me!) Maybache Music 2 came with runner up beat of the year off of Deeper than rap for me. Pill has me hooked, but that video still creeps me out for Trap goin’ ham. Great list, a few gems I must have overlooked
December 30th, 2009 at 9:26 am
siriusmo’s high together was THE TRACK of 09 for me, and definitely krazy baldhead with the B suite. fo sho.
December 30th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Lol @ all of the Drake …is someone looking for a collabo? Also big shocker the Cudi album isnt on the list, yet Gucci Mane is. Shocker.
December 30th, 2009 at 9:48 am
8. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)
haha can you even nominate your own remix? I mean it is that good, so i guess so. Oh and hell yes on the gucci mane and the phoenix. it’s on my list but yeah, don’t know why boys noize’s album isn’t on there. Also, should have been starter! not jeffer. But anyways, it’s a good list!
December 30th, 2009 at 10:34 am
With all the electro/hip hop fusion you do I would think David Guetta’s album would be on the list. He had some great collaborations. Nice list tho!
December 30th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
rashAAD-
I thought about the “can I put my own track on here” for a minute before posting… and then I figured “why not”, these are the tracks that were big for me this year.
Thanks for all the feedback, fellas. Keep it coming. Of course there are some albums that many of you are naming that I considered putting in my list (Cudi, Boys Noize, Raekwon) but ultimately I picked the 10 that had the biggest impact on me personally.
December 30th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
horrible list. dont do this again just keep it to yourself, k?
December 30th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Oh No, I though Julian Casablancas Album was great. Tear Tear I’m alittle hurt but respect your decision.
December 30th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
I guess Turn My Swag On is a great motivational song, not nearly as ignorant as some of his stuff, but his “singing”….ugh.
December 30th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
How is xx’s album? I bought it two weeks ago and I have yet to open it. Don’t know if i really should…
December 31st, 2009 at 12:20 am
Wow, happy to see Jay Electronica making it to the list. That dude blew me away with Exhibit C, phew.
Hmm, I can name a few Fake Blood tracks/remixes that I’d put above I Think I Like It. Nevertheless, wholeheartedly agree to the majority of your picks… I wonder what Phoenix will bring in ‘10
December 31st, 2009 at 9:04 am
WHERES YUKSEK???
December 31st, 2009 at 2:37 pm
i think N.A.S.A. deserved a spot for best album
January 1st, 2010 at 11:59 pm
great selection, i don’t think i could even come up with 10 for this year.
i’d have to switch Gucci Man with Kid Cudi, but then again i stopped listening to Gucci after Icy…let me find out i’m missing out.
the band, Portugal. The Man’s, Satanic Satanist album topped off my list…I’ll have to check out The xx’s album.
January 4th, 2010 at 4:20 am
NO NO NO…. JULIAN’S ALBUM WAS A GREAT RELEASE AND A DIFFERENT SOUND FOR ANYONE WHO IS A STROKES FAN. NOW ALTHOUGH HIS DEBUT ALBUM DOESNT COMPARE TO ALBERT HAMMOND JR.’S FIRST. I BELIEVE IT IS A GREAT ALBUM AND WAS NOT A DISAPPOINTMENT AT ALL…. YOU DIDNT REALLY EXPECT HIM TO RELEASE AN ALBUM THAT SOUNDED LIKE A STROKES ALBUM DID YOU?…. IF SO THATS PROBABLY WHY YOU WERE DISAPPOINTED
January 5th, 2010 at 9:52 am
Zombielicious est carrément mon album préféré de 2009, “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” est très bien aussi; bon choix.
Je préfère “In For The Kill (Hostage Remix)” et “Drummer” de Boys Noize. Pour les albums “Manual For A Successful Rioting” des Birdy Nam Nam et le dernier Just Jack qui est vraiment bien. Et bien sûr le Fabriclive 45 que j’ai adoré (Merci).
January 5th, 2010 at 11:17 pm
Some interesting choices, Atrak, but we have to be fair: here are some of the most underrated tracks of the year. I’ll keep it short since reading isn’t popular.
1. I’ll Get You - Classixx feat. Jeppe/ Kitsuné
2. Runaway - GRUM
3. She’s An Illusion - AZARI & III (trust me, NO ONE heard this one)
4. No Turning Back - Gui Borrato
5. Rushing to Paradise (Walking These Streets) - House of House.
VOILA!
January 6th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
I absolutely agree with teen wolf. JULIAN CASABLANCAS ROCKS!! Haha
January 7th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
bear’s list of top underrated tracks is pretty spot on..
best party(ies) of 2009 Big Trizz???
March 17th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
I thought Julian’s album was great, I’m definately feeling “Swag On”, La Roux should have been somewhere in the best albums too, definately agree with T-Atoms about TBP3 — by far the most disappointing, as for the rest, well, I’ll let you know once the dwls complete lol
April 12th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
