Watch my performance with Chilly Gonzales!

February 20th, 2010

Often times it’s the casual shows, the “oh I’m just doing this on the side for fun” shows that end up being my favorite ones. Maybe it’s because I love to improvise. Or maybe it’s because these are shows I do with my friends, which is fertile ground for creativity. Last year it was my set at the Do Over. This year so far, my favorite performance was this little guest spot I did at Chilly Gonzales’s “Piano Talk Show” at Joe’s Pub in New York last Thursday. It was barely rehearsed, only 15 minutes in length, and we were both coming in from long flights with little to no sleep. Watch the result, I hope you enjoy it!

I strongly recommend Gonzo’s new mixtape, Pianist Envy. Trust me, you’ve never heard anything like this. Download it here!

Big thanks to Nicky Digital for the video clips.

    Hey A-Trak,
Was wondering where the vocals in the second video come from? The acapella before R.Kelly’s.

By the way, would it be cool if I uploaded these on Youtube? I’ve put up the ‘secret weapon’ track as well because 1. Its dope as heck and 2. Build the hype! : )

These will probably make their way to youtube in a few days…

As of now there are no concrete plans to tour but I’m sure there we’ll do another collabo at some point in there future.

Elko, the 1st acapella in the 2nd clip is Stevie Wonder “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)”

So amazing. Told basically all of my friends in NY to go tomorrow night. So sad I can’t make it because I have to work in Killadelphia Friday. :-( Your set together was definitely very very inspiring and impressive and refreshing. So sick of all the talentless bs circulating the internet lately. I was starting to feel dumbed down by it all until I saw this. Brought my standards back up to where they should be. Thank you! Gave you both a shout out on my blog: http://www.simplesavoirfaire.com. Enjoy!

    Salut Trak,
