Dirty South Dance 2 - download the mixtape!

Here it is ladies and germs! The mixtape has landed and it is yours to enjoy at the click of a mouse.

You can use this snazzy lil’ widget to preview all the songs and download the album as one complete zip with artwork and all that jazz. If you prefer seeing this on a full page you can also go straight to Bandcamp, that’s like the home base for the operation.

Feel free to post the mixtape on your own blogs and sites. Preferably, use the “Share” link to get the embed code and spread the love.

I hope you like the mix! As you probably know this is a sequel to the first Dirty South Dance CD that came out in 2007. For the die-hard collectors I’m teaming up with Obey again to make a deluxe pack that includes a poster, t-shirt and physical CD in sexy digipak format. Stay tuned for the exact release date, it’ll be in about 3 weeks.

Also, if you choose to download the audio in Ogg Vorbis format you’re a weirdo.

Downloading it now! I’m so excited for this. I’ve listened to DSD #1 100000000 times and never ever get sick of it. No other DJ/producer out there has your combination of sheer talent, musical knowledge and sense of humour. Keep on doing what you do.

  21. Jon Says:

Did carte blanche make do do do and allow you to release it or were they just featured in it and you produced it? I love that song, heard it on their mixtape and thought it was gonna be released on their may 31st ep. No offense it just doesn’t sound like an atrak “track”.

  22. Charlie Says:

Anyone know where I could get a “double” tracklist or know any other of the mash-ups?

    For Example:
Trizzy Turnt Up: “All The Way Turnt Up” Vs. “Vocal Chords”
Loonies To Blow: “Money To Blow” Vs. “Toyfriend”

    Thanks.

  27. atrak Says:

Thanks guys! I’ve been working on this project for a while so I’m just happy everyone can listen now.
To answer a few specific questions…

Jon: Right, “Do! Do! Do!” is a song by Carte Blanche feat. Kid Sister and it’s on their upcoming EP. There are 2 tracks on this mixtape that aren’t by me: that one and Craze’s remix of Donnis.

Matthew: That’s a good point… part of me wants the listeners to do some research and explore for themselves… but at the same time most of these instrumentals are by friends of mine and I want them to gain fans too. Maybe I’ll do a “DSD2 revealed” post after a little while!

  28. Newsense Says:

A-trak, you helped revolutionize turntablism with the skratch piklz. Now your writing hiphop history with releases like this. You are a true pioneer of our culture and there are very few. From one turntablist to another, thanks for everything you do.

[...] A-trak’s Dirty South Dance 2 mixtape dropped earlier this week, and ive been listening to it nonstop for the past couple days.
Its one of those cds that hits the grounds running, and doesnt slow down, no filler. Its 15 super polished mash ups strung together with A-trak’s world renowned DJ skills. These mashups aren’t copy-paste, hes subtly adapted each vocal to the beat which gives each track that extra snap-crackle-pop. [...]

  66. A Few Quick Album Reviews | The New Montreal Says:

[...] After three years of waiting, it’s finally here. About a week ago, A-Trak released the heavily anticipated follow-up to his deadly mixtape Dirty South Dance, entitled (you guessed it) Dirty South Dance 2. Once again, A-Trak has taken some of the grittiest southern hip-hop and produced a club-worthy set of near-banger beats sure to get your boots a-knockin’, hats a-flyin’, and bums a-shakin’. Mixing everyone from Weezy to Project Pat to Luda to OJ Da Juice Man, A-Trak managed once again to properly rep that southern flavor to the electro world. A-Trak remains one of our favorite DJs over here at TNM due to his range of continually innovative and evolving styles, and his ability to produce flawless and heavily rompin’ electro and rap mixes. When we say that A-Trak never fails to disappoint, we almost mean it completely and totally. Almost just ‘cause he hasn’t been to Montreal in some time, and we are more than ready to show off our clown walks, crank our spongebob, and all that other fun stuff. The mixtape is availible for free on A-Trak’s website here. [...]
