Late pass: DJ Hero 2 and Hennessy Blending of Art
I’m late on announcing my contribution to 2 projects…
First of all I’m in the new DJ Hero 2 video game.
Apparently this is what my section looks like. I don’t know why I’m in Vegas!
I made 2 “mixes” for the game (which you can preview on the youtubes below) and they also used a few of my other tracks elsewhere, like “Say Whoa” and my remixes for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and MSTRKRFT.
The way this worked is, I had to pick songs from a pre-cleared list and figure out ways to flip them, whether it be as a remix or some sort of mashup. I wanted to go for songs that already stood the test of time… party classics. Compared to the first DJ Hero game which to me didn’t always reflect what DJs are playing, I like the fact that this new one is more focused on electronic music and hip hop. Although to be honest I haven’t properly played the new one yet. I don’t even play video games! But I’m glad I got a chance to be a part of this.
Also, Hennessy recently launched a project called Blending Of Art where they paired a couple musicians with graphic artists and had them make their own customized version of a Henny bottle. I worked with Dust La Rock on one, and Kid Sister also made one with Fafi. Now pour it up…

Travel tales from the vault: Getting into Serbia
Last summer, both Chromeo and I played Exit festival in Serbia. Contrary to what you might imagine the festival itself isn’t quite cut off from the rest of Europe — in fact a ton of fans fly in from all over the continent to attend and it has a great international reputation. Traveling there was an interesting experience though. I flew, which wasn’t too bad. The national airline is JAT airways and although the plane was old enough to still have ashtrays at every seat, it got us there without too much trouble.
The Chromeo bros flew as well, but their touring crew (tour manager, sound guys, light guy, etc) drove in through Hungary. They got stopped at the border for many hours and Tom, the tour manager (who also often works with me) was traumatized by this experience of bribing officers with cartons of cigarettes and obtaining mysterious “travel insurance” at the border. I had asked him to write down the story for this very blog… I must have lost track of it but just found it now in my emails, so here it is, in Tom’s words: (more…)
Making your bed just got easier
The Letto Zip Bed by Florida Smart Italian Design kinda looks like a giant blood cell. It zips open and close in one swift motion. But here’s my question… do you really have to have nothing on your floor to make this look right? What if you don’t have a highrise view? What if you live in an old Victorian home? Or a dorm room? Imagine some guy showing up to a dorm room with the Letto Zip Bed. That would be “haha” funny.
This speaks to my interests: folding
P-Thugg showed me this t-shirt folding technique yesterday at an Indian restaurant, demonstrating with a napkin. It literally takes 2 seconds. I can now do this! From now on if I go to someone’s house I will ask for a t-shirt and this will be my new “impress the host” trick. And of course my packing efficiency will also improve tenfold. (“Fold” pun intended.)
For some reason they disabled embedding on Youtube so you have to click below and go watch for yourself… but trust me it’s worth it!

Chromeo “Hot Mess” video is arrestingly good
At this stage when Chromeo come out with a video you know you can expect some role-playing. The question is simply, what will it be this time? Well now they’re cops.
Directed by frequent collaborator Jérémie Rozan of Surface To Air, this time it’s P-Thugg’s time to shine. You have the right to remain funky.
