Singapore and stuff

August 19th, 2005

If you’ve read the last entry, you’ll know that I went to Singapore. That trip proved to be quite the culinary expedition. Never in my life had I tasted sting ray, drank (and fell in love with) sugarcane juice or seen/eaten SHRIMP this BIG! I was also delighted to see that the 3rd instalment in the “Learn to Hip Hop” DVD series was out and available in stores! Check it out…

Taiwan

August 04th, 2005

Coming home from Belgium wasn’t easy. My airline woes weren’t over. I flew home for one day, literally, before jetting to Taiwan. And they managed to keep me stuck at La Guardia for a couple hours and then lose my luggage when I got home. But I miraculously got everything back just a few hours before the Taiwan departure, and I was off. I went out there with my homie-slash-agent Denise. Taiwan was a trip… They were having their first DMC battle this year, so they flew me out to perform and talk to the press. They had me feeling like the scratch ambassador! I took a bunch of pictures out there..

Belgium and TTC in Montreal

August 04th, 2005

I played at the Dour Festival in Belgium right after the last update. Lots o’ fun, check out that crowd.

Little Brother killed it… I gotta say, I love playing those European festivals, they spoil you like crazy. I mean where else would I get a massage before a show? Anyhoo. I also got to meet DJ Spinna — I’ve always been a fan. And then we saw this graf in Gent, which is the city where I was staying… (See the pic) Apparently someone just really liked the Common album.

Toronto, NO, Golddigger shoot

July 18th, 2005

The last weekend of June / first weekend of July was pretty coocoo for me. I started off playing in Toronto on the Thursday, at a Jurassic 5 show. I saw J-Rocc and Madlib pop up in the crowd while I was playing — they were in town for a Stones Throw show the night before. That’s always good. And here’s a picture with my homie Pro, who was travelling with J5…

Chile and Halifax

June 28th, 2005

Hot diggety damn, the entire month of June flew by already. After my last update I went out to Chile for a show — my first South American performance. Not only is it a charming, picturesque country where you’ll find the freshest seafood and the loveliest people; Chile is also and more importantly the home of Nuts4Nuts. If you’ve ever been to New York, you’ve seen these nomadic salesmen of crunchy roasted leguminous snacks. Turns out that it all started with a Chilean entrepreneur and his dream. See the picture below, along with more flicks from that trip.

Pictures from LA

June 28th, 2005

I spent the last week of the month in LA, mostly working on some projects with GLC. Saw a few other compadres too. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

The Rub and Vancouver

May 17th, 2005

The Rub was the ultimate jump-off on the 7th in New York. Them boys Ayres and Cosmo Baker sure know how to throw a good soirée.

The best part was the surprise visit from O.G.’s Kinetic and Eclipse (pictured below), out of the clear blue skies. Not to mention Dunnit. Who woulda thunk

Speaking of who-woulda-thunks: I never thought I’d hear Tego Calderon over a Primo beat! Yall need to track down this Tony Touch song called “Gangsta Shit”. You have to hear it to believe it. And speaking of songs I’m feeling, RJ’s Tweet remix is cold, my friends.

I just got back from Vancouver. Stopped by J-Swing and Flipout’s radio show on the Beat (where’s Montreal’s urban station?) and then proceeded to twist some knobs (no homo).

New York party

May 03rd, 2005

Just a quick update this time. A few days ago Kanye had a party in New York to celebrate Common’s finished album and John Legend’s platinum status. Went there with big brother Dave and took a few pictures…

Could there be a certain collabo circulating on the internet? J Pizzle, I see you. In the words of Bizzy Bone: holla – holla – hollaaaaaa.

Winter Music Conference

April 02nd, 2005

Last weekend was Winter Music Conference in sunny South Beach, Miami. I have to say, I usually don’t like WMC. The last couple of years, I felt like the parties were too messy – everybody too drunk to notice who’s even playing – and it was getting too electronic for my taste. But this year was pretty dope!
