Alchemist “Lose Your Life” video

December 23rd, 2008

I know I’m late with this post, actually I’ve been meaning to put this video on here for the longest time. Alchemist is the man, we’re all kind of from the same underground hip hop world so I’m happy to see him do well. His blog is a must-read, a trip inside the mind of a stoner who makes ill beats. And this video… it’s hysterical! On some gory Scooby Doo shit. I love it.

I like this new Royce & Primo joint!

The video… no comment. But the song is dooope!

Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak AF1′s

December 20th, 2008

This dude Mache made these custom Air Force 1′s based on Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album art, including the Kaws stuff. (Sidebar: I personally preferred the album art pre-Kaws… no disrespect to the god.)

The album art of Hipgnosis

December 12th, 2008

Hipgnosis is a British design group that did some of the most amazing and classic album covers in the 70′s, including Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” and Led Zeppelin’s “Houses of the Holy”. The Fader posted this interview with designer Aubrey Powell and you really need to hear the story behind that Zeppelin cover, it’s jaw-dropping. If you’re looking for a good Christmas/Hannukah present, pick up the new book For the Love of VInyl: The Album Art of Hipgnosis.

Trizzy Likes: La Roux’s new video

December 03rd, 2008

This video is too fresh!

The song was on the same Kitsune compilation as “Say Whoa”… Check out La Roux’s myspace.

Best monkey portraits ever.

November 28th, 2008

Sure, when it comes to cooky animal appreciation, monkeys are pretty entry-level, but when it all boils down… you really can’t beat a good simian.

If ever you’re feeling down, I encourage you to visit this amazing collection of monkey portraits by this dude Paul Kopeikin. CORRECTION: These pics are by the world figgy famous Jill Greenberg! My bad.

It digs a little deeper than your typical chimp shot and their facial expressions are bugged out!

Matter of fact, to add a bit of continuity with the previous post, I think Ayres put me on to this a while back.

Around the World pt. 2

October 13th, 2008

As posted on the fab Fader blog.

When we last left off I had just arrived in LA to link up with Kanyeezy. He’s finishing up this 808′s & Heartbreak album much faster than his typical pace and we wanted to catch up on the music before I head out to Paris, where I’ll be living for the fall. He was recording in an undisclosed location with a nice courtyard with patio chairs. Usually, studio sessions in LA or New York are hell because everyone wants to come and hang out, but not this one. Actually, when I showed up he was doing an interview. He also had a meeting with Vanessa Beecroft which led to them collaborating on his listening party—you’ve probably seen the flyer on the blogosphere. I listened to the whole album and then once everyone left we went over a bunch of the songs and made some tweaks and exchanged some ideas. There were songs where he wasn’t quite happy with the effects on his voice so I took some stems and worked on them in the following days. We stayed at the studio pretty late appreciating each other’s beards and finally called it a night.
