If you’re in NY this weekend go see this show in the Hamptons

August 28th, 2009

This show follows Agathe Snow’s previous the exhibit “The Asshole of NYC: An Attempt at Conversation”, which appeared in Winter 2008 at the Sculpture Center in Long Island City and was in direct reaction to an article on New York’s male-dominated art scene in Dazed. That show marked the first appearance of Snow’s wreaths, eight-foot tube frames draped with elaborate ornaments through which visitors were invited to pass.

“Terrestrial Forms,” a new show at the Fireplace Project in East Hampton shows a continuation of Snow’s wreath series (here they’re six feet in diameter) that emphasize luxury materials and signifiers of femininity like pearls, plastic seashells, and ornaments.

Anus-shaped giant wreaths made out of luxury items, shown in the Hamptons. Sounds lovely!
