Abbey Road, Touch the Sky tour
Wednesday, October 12th, 2005Re-Extra-extra: this is a new update but I’m leaving the call for submissions up here. So don’t trip and read below, party people.
Call for submissions! I’m starting to plan a North American tour in February to promote the release of my DVD. I’m looking for somebody to do visuals on this tour. Obviously this would entail being on the road, I’d say for a good 3-4 weeks. And I’m looking for someone who understands the aesthetic that I’ve been working with in my projects so far, who has experience doing visuals for live shows and who can bring lots of creativity to the show. Please email me your submissions (info@djatrak.com). Thanks.
And now, back to our bidness. First of all, I know it’s been a minute since the last minute. You’ll have to excuse me — the Kanye tour starts tomorrow and it’s been pretty insane in the last couple of weeks, trying to get ready and finish a bunch of work before hitting the road. I’m really excited though.
Taiwan
Thursday, August 4th, 2005Coming home from Belgium wasn’t easy. My airline woes weren’t over. I flew home for one day, literally, before jetting to Taiwan. And they managed to keep me stuck at La Guardia for a couple hours and then lose my luggage when I got home. But I miraculously got everything back just a few hours before the Taiwan departure, and I was off. I went out there with my homie-slash-agent Denise. Taiwan was a trip… They were having their first DMC battle this year, so they flew me out to perform and talk to the press. They had me feeling like the scratch ambassador! I took a bunch of pictures out there..

Common album, Sasquatch & Montreal
Thursday, June 2nd, 2005First of all party people while I’ve got your attention, here’s a few things I forgot to mention. (I’m working on a 16.) Common’s album! Cop it. Why, you ask? Because I’m on it, I say. I did the jigga-jiggas on “Chi City” and on “Go”, which is the new single and video. I guess the fact that it’s Common’s best album ever would also be a good reason to buy it. (Oh no you didn’t!)
Second thing: my Dipset song played on Hot97… twice! DJ Enuff played it and frankly I’m not even sure where he got it. But I’m lovin’ it like McDonald’s. I couldn’t believe it.
Announcing the album…
Sunday, April 17th, 2005So I’m working on an album. My first solo album, that is. Originally this was going to be the soundtrack to “Sunglasses Is A Must”. But then I decided I wanted to put it out separately. It was like a bird leaving its nest; a phoenix rising from the flames; a prisoner breaking its chains. Or maybe not. The important thing is, I’ve got a bunch of songs in the works. Some joints have MCs on them, and some are instrumental. And in the Audio Research tradition I’ve got my brother Dave working with me on this stuff. The other day I went to New York and did a joint with the Dip Set! (You already know.) Here’s a couple of pictures from those sessions.
