Erol Alkan x David Rudnick t-shirt with maze and secret message

Friday, December 18th, 2009

It takes a lot for me to post a t-shirt on my blog but this one is definitely worthy.

Erol Alkan collaborated with David Rudnick on this one: only 100 made, all hand numbered, and all packaged with a very special E.R.O.L. marker. What does the maze reveal? You’ll have to do it to find out.

Shirts are available from Erol’s webstore, and a handful might make their way to Colette (Paris) and Dover Street Market (London) in the new year.

I would bring this on the plane and do the maze on my tray table… Who needs sudoku?

Some goodies from DJ Mehdi

Brother from another mother Mehdi made a very useful edit of Erol Alkan & Boys Noize’s seizure-inducing “Death Suite”. Here it is, courtesy of the Boys Noize Recs blog!

Around the World pt. 7

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

As posted on the fab Fader blog. More pics here.

Last week I went back to New York for a few days for the mtvU Woodies. I was DJing the event and they also had me announcing one of the categories with Kid Sister. For those who aren’t familiar (get familiar), the Woodies are MTV’s award show for lumberjacks and carpenters. No, no, that’s a bad joke. It’s an award show for bands who “sell wood,” i.e. cool stuff for college kids! It was at Roseland Ballroom, and I basically spent the whole day there Wednesday. They had me doing interviews in the afternoon, including this virtual thing that I didn’t really understand until I got there. In fact it was a bona fide chat room! There was a Dell laptop with a virtual A-Trak character (I could pick the clothes) and I went into a “party” and talked to people. I realize that I sound like a grandma right now but I was completely out of my element. It was pretty funny still. I think my favorite thing about award shows is the seating: in the afternoon they have pictures of the “celebrities” to mark their seats. I was meant to sit next to Debbie Harry and Moby but I never actually saw them at the seats. Anyway, I was DJing a lot of the time.

Interview on Erol’s site

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

I did an interview for Erol Alkan’s website, check it out!.

By the way I’m loving the Late Of The Pier stuff that Erol’s been producing. Look for the song “Focker”, it’s bonkers!

Gelato And Rainboots

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I was only back from Europe for 2 weeks when I boarded that cheap charter flight where they fed us President’s Choice TV dinners and headed back to Ye Olde Continent. First stop, Paris. I was booked to play a Vice party with that tall frenchman known as Busy P. Before the gig they had an Ed Banger in-store at Virgin where a special guest was advertised. That was me, I’m special. Hard to keep a surprise when I’m the only guy on Serato, going on stage to make sure they have the turntables plugged right. The Virgin Megastore is really big and it was fun to have an all-ages audience. They had us playing on a mixer that I don’t know and I spent my whole set looking for the “crossfader on” switch, but aside from that it went well! I found out Kanye was also in town and tried to invite him to our gig but he was in a deep jetlag-induced slumber. We headed over to the club. As I got there I saw my boy leaving the club and he was like “yo let me introduce you to Keith Murray!” I’m not sure why Keith Murray was at my party but I was very surprised that he knew who I was. He kept saying “A-Trak, you’re crazy man, you’re on some shit.”

WMC According to Trizzy

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

The Fool’s Gold posse flew to Miami last Wednesday for some festivities of the Winter Music variety. When we arrived in fabulous South Beach we were famished so we linked up with our buddies Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, MSTRKRFT and LA Riots who were all about to grab dinner. What we didn’t know was that the MSTR boys had made reservations at the fanciest, strangest, most blog-worthy restaurant in the 305. From the outside this place Prime 112 looked more like a club than anything else. When our turn finally came we realized that from the inside it was actually closer to a hotel in the sense that every party got their own private room with not only a dining table but a TV, a couch, a bed, a bathroom… They served plates that were big enough to be shared by 5-7 people. We ordered the mother of all surf & turfs. The lobster was 4.5 pounds. My girlfriend’s dog is about that size.
