Fader TV interviews me in Charlotte

July 09th, 2009

Caught up with Fader TV at the B-Live show in Charlotte, spoke about the Kid Sister album and made some blogging promises. WATCH THIS: when I jumped off the table in the opening segment, the whole table tipped over and I had to catch it from falling into the crowd. You can see it for a fraction of a second (0:21).

November 25th, 2008

As you may know I DJ’ed the mtvU Woodies awards recently. I also presented the “Left Field” category with Kid Sister… and Chromeo won!

They sent me some clips. Here we are announcing…

Around the World pt. 7

November 19th, 2008

As posted on the fab Fader blog. More pics here.

Last week I went back to New York for a few days for the mtvU Woodies. I was DJing the event and they also had me announcing one of the categories with Kid Sister. For those who aren’t familiar (get familiar), the Woodies are MTV’s award show for lumberjacks and carpenters. No, no, that’s a bad joke. It’s an award show for bands who “sell wood,” i.e. cool stuff for college kids! It was at Roseland Ballroom, and I basically spent the whole day there Wednesday. They had me doing interviews in the afternoon, including this virtual thing that I didn’t really understand until I got there. In fact it was a bona fide chat room! There was a Dell laptop with a virtual A-Trak character (I could pick the clothes) and I went into a “party” and talked to people. I realize that I sound like a grandma right now but I was completely out of my element. It was pretty funny still. I think my favorite thing about award shows is the seating: in the afternoon they have pictures of the “celebrities” to mark their seats. I was meant to sit next to Debbie Harry and Moby but I never actually saw them at the seats. Anyway, I was DJing a lot of the time.

Around the World pt. 4

October 27th, 2008

As posted on the fab Fader blog.

Last week I came back from a weekend of shows with a cold and a busted computer and hard drive, determined to get things straightened out. So I went to this Apple service center here in Paris (they don’t have official Apple stores) and they told me it would take 10 to 15 days to swap my motherboard. I thought “I’ll show YOU a motherboard” (I don’t know what that means) and I said “non merci.” For a minute I even considered going to London to get it fixed. Thank goodness I know a few people at Apple in the US and they got me in the right hands in Paris. That simplified things quite a bit.

Around the World pt. 3

October 20th, 2008

As posted on the fab Fader blog.

Last week I finally arrived in Paris to settle in for my six week stay here. I’m doing a house swap with the DJ Mehdi & Fafi household. They’ve already been living at my spot in BK for a few weeks while I was finishing up these tours, which made me homeless for a hot second. Right as I landed from Japan I got an invitation to dinner with my favorite living-dead (and new neighbor) Kavinsky, permanent dresser-in-black Sebastian and their respective female companions. A swift reminder that Parisians are prone to social meals and, as the food was served, that this is a great destination for a fine palate like myself. I walked home seemingly ready for a good night’s rest after essentially circling the globe. Hah. I guess I underestimated the formidable power of jetlag. 6am monday morning, I was up.

Trizzy’s Mindspray, Vol.4

June 22nd, 2008

I just landed in Barcelona for the famous Sonar festival. We were billed as “DJ Mehdi vs A-Trak feat Kid Sister”. I love it because it’s a math formula: “vs” is like “x” and “feat” is like “+”. But wait, there’s an issue with the priorities! Is it (DJ Mehdi x A-Trak) + Kid Sister, or DJ Mehdi x (A-Trak + Kid Sister) ? In other words, the DJs and the MC, or Europe meets America? I think I might ask the organizers. Strictly speaking, the way they wrote it without parentheses it should mean the first one. But Kid Sis actually canceled last week so they might not be receptive to my little question.

Wizard of Oz, Pt.2: The Crash

February 20th, 2008

Following my last post about Good Vibrations, we’re now on the 2nd and final weekend of the Australian traveling festival. On the agenda: Sydney and the far-away Perth. People had been hyping up this Sydney show for the whole week. This would be the bigger, badder, deffer show of the bunch. We got there, scoped out the grounds as we rode around in our buggy and saw the masses of people undulating in the huge park… yep, this was gonna be a good one.
