A couple months ago I made a record with Laidback Luke called “Shake It Down”. You know, the one with the toms that go “dum du-dum dum DOMM DOMMMMM du-dum”? Factoid #1: that’s my sexy voice on the record. Factoid #2: this track was made in 4 hours.
Hard fact: you can now purchase it! If you’re looking for a co-sign, Catchdini copied our best DJ feedback here… but I’d feel funny putting it on my own blog.
The point is: cop it right now on Beatport. And if you want to be soooooper cool, grab that limited Fool’s Gold vinyl single with the full-color Dust La Rock sleeve.

As posted on the fab Fader blog.

When I wrote last Monday, it was the last day of my 6 week stay in Paris. On that evening I went to have dinner at Guy-Man’s crib. Of course I don’t have any pics… Duh, who has pictures of Daft Punk? It was ill though, and pardon my selfishness but I don’t even really feel little telling stories. I’m too much of a fan, I gotta keep this one in my little mental cabinet. Dude is mad cool and he remembers seeing me DJ at WMC in 1998 when I was 16.

I don’t even know what time zone I’m in anymore. I just know I have a couple of pictures from last weekend that I wanted to post, so that warrants a blog post. Last Friday I flew to London for a gig at this venue Plan B, down in Brixton which is kind of a roughneck neighborhood. During the afternoon I went over to Herve’s house and we finished a track together. (This is the part where you bloggers are supposed to get excited!) Then I did my gig, it was a hip hop party. I realized that in the course of the summer I played in different corners of London. River Thames, you’re next.

Time for one of my long-winded tour novelas. I recently wrapped up a European tour that spanned the whole month of May, one which I arbitrarily named the Upper Crust Tour at the last minute, in honor of that beloved chain of sandwich shops found in almost all train stations. After doing a whole bunch of tours with other people — the Fool’s Gold fam, Mehdi, Kanye, etc — I felt like going off to clubland (Europe) and back to raw DJing practically every night for 4 weeks. Of course I wasn’t literally by myself the whole month. In most cities I was sharing bills with friends from either continent. But it did feel like a pilgrimage to the land of the DJ, and on off-days I would often link up with other producers and work on music. I loved it. I started a Flickr page towards the beginning of my trip so you can catch my full set of pics here. Let’s dive into it.

The Fool’s Gold posse flew to Miami last Wednesday for some festivities of the Winter Music variety. When we arrived in fabulous South Beach we were famished so we linked up with our buddies Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, MSTRKRFT and LA Riots who were all about to grab dinner. What we didn’t know was that the MSTR boys had made reservations at the fanciest, strangest, most blog-worthy restaurant in the 305. From the outside this place Prime 112 looked more like a club than anything else. When our turn finally came we realized that from the inside it was actually closer to a hotel in the sense that every party got their own private room with not only a dining table but a TV, a couch, a bed, a bathroom… They served plates that were big enough to be shared by 5-7 people. We ordered the mother of all surf & turfs. The lobster was 4.5 pounds. My girlfriend’s dog is about that size.
