Stones Throw x Fool’s Gold Discotheque tour

Discotheque

Last April for Coachella weekend, Fool’s Gold teamed up with Stones Throw for a party at the Ace hotel. The idea behind it was basically: “come hear some music that you won’t hear elsewhere this weekend”. No electro, not even any rap, just classic disco and old school house. It was our first collaborative project with Stones Throw, which is surprising since I’ve been tight with those dudes for years — they even released my first record back in 1999.

The party was a success and left us wanting more… So we decided to do a lil’ tour. We’re doing a boat party in Vancouver, playing by the waterfront in San Fran, doing a Lollapalooza afterparty in Chicago and, well, getting tax-free goods in Portland.

Check the full show listings after the jump. Come see us in your town. Bring your best dancing shoes. We’re here to move your hips. And if you have an artificial hip, we’ll make it squeak. I’m not really sure what that means.

Dope packaging, Wolf!

Monday, September 7th, 2009

I’m a little late with this but once again Stones Throw comes correct with the packaging.

45 Live is a set of 18 hip hop classic songs on 7-inch, re-edited by Peanut Butter Wolf and available on 7-inch for the first time. A mixed CD version of the box set drops in September.

Interview with my friend Peanut Butter Wolf

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Great interview with PB Wolf talking about some key releases in the Stones Throw catalogue. Wolf has been a dear friend for over 10 years. He put out my first record, Enter Ralph Wiggum, a 45 in 1999.

Does anyone have his first album My Vinyl Weighs A Ton on mp3? If you could post a download link in the comments that would be much appreciated!!
