Around the World pt. 3
As posted on the fab Fader blog.
Last week I finally arrived in Paris to settle in for my six week stay here. I’m doing a house swap with the DJ Mehdi & Fafi household. They’ve already been living at my spot in BK for a few weeks while I was finishing up these tours, which made me homeless for a hot second. Right as I landed from Japan I got an invitation to dinner with my favorite living-dead (and new neighbor) Kavinsky, permanent dresser-in-black Sebastian and their respective female companions. A swift reminder that Parisians are prone to social meals and, as the food was served, that this is a great destination for a fine palate like myself. I walked home seemingly ready for a good night’s rest after essentially circling the globe. Hah. I guess I underestimated the formidable power of jetlag. 6am monday morning, I was up.
Around the World pt. 2
As posted on the fab Fader blog.
When we last left off I had just arrived in LA to link up with Kanyeezy. He’s finishing up this 808′s & Heartbreak album much faster than his typical pace and we wanted to catch up on the music before I head out to Paris, where I’ll be living for the fall. He was recording in an undisclosed location with a nice courtyard with patio chairs. Usually, studio sessions in LA or New York are hell because everyone wants to come and hang out, but not this one. Actually, when I showed up he was doing an interview. He also had a meeting with Vanessa Beecroft which led to them collaborating on his listening party—you’ve probably seen the flyer on the blogosphere. I listened to the whole album and then once everyone left we went over a bunch of the songs and made some tweaks and exchanged some ideas. There were songs where he wasn’t quite happy with the effects on his voice so I took some stems and worked on them in the following days. We stayed at the studio pretty late appreciating each other’s beards and finally called it a night.
Sunglasses tour wrap-up
The Sunglasses Is A Must tour is a serious contender for the most blogged tour in the history of this information superhighway we call the internet. I kept a twice-a-week diary on Dose’s website (they were our Canadian magazine sponsor), but then they folded halfway into the tour. Excellent. And we all (The Rub and me) kept weekly diaries on the Fader blog.
So now, for your reading convenience, here are all the links:

On top of the people I thanked in the last Fader blog, I want to add a special thank-you to everyone involved with the Montreal show, because that one was extra special for me. The Kops guys made this the ultimate jump-off, as usual. And 33mag.com also helped out a lot. The Mirror put me on the cover, I appreciate that… I couldn’t even name everyone that came out but a lot of them are in the photo album.
So go check that out, read up on the diaries, fix me a sandwich… wait, I’m sorry. And um, get ready for the big announcement.

MySpace, Japan, and SIAM tour
Alright, that’s it. I had to do it. I’m sorry, I had to do it. I tried to hold off for as long as I could. But then when Illseed got on, I had to get on. Sure I don’t know Illseed but I’m a faithful Allhiphop reader, and I relate to the guy. So… I got on MySpace. It’s been about 3 weeks now so some of yall probably found me already. But if you haven’t… I’m at www.myspace.com/djatrak. You’ll see, the moose is there with me, holding me down.
Now that I got that out of the way… back to tour stories. Last time I wrote I was just getting into Japan for the last couple of shows of the Kanye tour.
Links galore. And France.
I’d like to start this update with a few links:
I wrote a diary of my Grammy experience for the Fader blog
MTV.com said that Tom Cruise liked my solo…
And GLC made this ghetto-ass iMovie masterpiece of a video for Chi State of Mind, which is the track I produced.
Now to pick up where the last update left off… I went to France in mid-January to promote the “Oh No You Didn’t!” CD. I’d been wanting to play in Paris for a long time and reconnect with the French cousins, but somehow there were always scheduling issues when I’d go to Europe. So I was really looking forward to this trip. And it didn’t disappoint!
