Trevor Jackson presents: NOWHERE
Trevor Jackson isn’t a stranger to this blog. He’s been a friend of the Brothers Macklovitch for many years and if you aren’t familiar with his work I strongly suggest you spend a bit of time browsing through his site. To my DJ peers he might be known mostly for his music, ranging from the excellent Playgroup project all the way back to early 90′s remixes of hip hop greats under the name Underdog. But he’s also an accomplished graphic designer, with memorable album covers for Soulwax and The Rapture (Echoes) under his belt.
His first solo art show will be premiering soon at KK Outlet in London.
“NOWHERE features highly personal photographic and video studies that explore related themes of honesty, simplicity, manipulation and ego.” I can dig it.
The exhibition runs March 4 – 26. More info here.
Recommended listening: Playgroup partymix 2001
Playgroup is Trevor Jackson, my homie from London. I first met Trevor after he remixed Chromeo’s first single “You’re So Gangsta”. His “DJ Kicks” CD is one of my favorite DJ mixes, and I recently discovered this mix of his from 2001. It’s every classic old school party jam you can imagine quickly edited back-to-back. Name them all! I know I can’t…
